TSM Implementation & Administration Tutorial

Intended Audience:

This tutorial is intended for any one who is planning to administrate or implement IBM TSM 5.5. Although this tutorial is covering most of the topics covered by IBM training for TSM, it should not be a replacement for the official IBM training “IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5 Implementation & Administration” which we highly recommend and more information about it can be found at http://www.ibm.com/software/tivoli/education/ . Although this can be an escape for administrators or implementers who do not have the budget or the time to enroll in the official course. Our team has done everything possible to make this tutorial as accurate & beneficial as possible, but that does not mean its 100% error free. As well we will not take any blame or responsibility of problem rising up from your usage of this tutorial. So use it at your own risk.

Prerequisite:

Although this course is covering IBM Tivoli Storage Manager from scratch, the reader should have a basic understanding of the following before trying to read this tutorial. If you have any problem with any of the below pre-requisite we advice you to try to adopt to it before continuing with this tutorial.

1-     Sufficient Knowledge of operating system & how to navigate thru it.

2-     Sufficient understanding of Server-client concepts.

3-     Sufficient knowledge of web-browser like IE or Firefox.

    Hi Sonu,

    Are you working as an administrator for TSM or are you more of a consultant & implementation role. TSM has mainly two exams depending on your role as below:


    IBM Certified Deployment Professional – Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1:     This exam is great for consultants & if you are working among the deployment team at an IBM Business Partner.

    IBM Certified Administrator – Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1: Is what you should attempt if you are working as a TSM administrator.

    In regards of study materials, unfortunately you will have to take the course to get the course material. Though the TSM 6.1 redbooks which is online can help you do just fine. Below are few of these documents
